Outstanding Food & Beverage

Due to complications (on Travis’ part) we got a late start on our departure to the restaurant but we still made our reservation.

When we arrived, we were greeted by an absolutely beautiful hostess (that was your first hint Travis, stay in school and attend CU) who gave us the option to enjoy our meal on the outside patio.

After a few twists and turns through the restaurant, we walked out onto the patio. The seating was a little cramped but the ambiance was nice.

Our waiter, Doug (not his real name) promptly greeted us and provided us with the dinner, tapas and beverage menus. After perusing the many selections of wine, I ordered a lager from a local a local brewery. The selection was made from the “Bottled Beer” section but the beer was delivered in a can. Hmmm, I most likely wouldn’t have ordered it knowing it was in a can as the aluminum typically changes the physical characteristics of the hops and alcohol bringing on a metallic taste which forces the tastebuds to go into panic mode ruin the appetite.

Now for the food: Excellent.

Here is a detailed list of our Tapas:

DÁTILES CON AJILLO:

Applewood smoked bacon wrapped Medjool dates

with lemon, garlic & butter

SPANOKOPITA:

Baked spinach & feta pastry served with lemon & tzatziki

LES EPINARDS ET LA BRIE:

Wood oven baked spinach, artichoke & brie dip topped with

bread crumbs & parmesan served with crostini

CALAMARI FRITTI:

Garlic buttermilk marinated fried calamari

& marinara

INSALATA CAPRESE (Mozzarella Sliders)

House-made fresh mozzarella, sliced tomatoes,

basil leaves, cracked black pepper & Las Brisas olive oil

TZATZIKI:

Yogurt blended with cucumbers, fresh mint & cracked

black pepper with table carrots & celery

HUMMUS BI TAHINI:

A trio of garlic-chickpea, sundried tomato-pine nut &

curry-honey hummus served with pita

PROSCIUTTO E MELONE:

Thinly sliced Prosciutto di Parma, melon wedges,

Maldon salt & basil infused olive oil

BOMBAY Mussles:

Yellow curry, toasted garlic, roasted red peppers,

sesame seeds, white wine & cilantro

Travis also ordered the Swordfish Kabob (photo not available) for an entrée which was outstanding as well.

The food and service were unsurpassed and we will definitely be coming back. Hopefully the family will come out sometime soon so we can find another excuse to come back as well.

We contemplated ordering more Tapas but we figured that by the time the food arrived, the contents of the previous food would have settled in and we wouldn’t be able to eat it so we ordered dessert instead.

Michelle ordered the Fruit Tart. Travis ordered the Crème Brûlée and I ordered the Chocolate Almond Tower. Once again, I did not take any pictures of the desserts however, I did take a picture of Michelle’s double espresso and my double cappuccino. Michelle should have ordered a quadruple espresso so she would have got a cup bigger than a thimble.

The restaurant is a little pricey ($130 for three people - including alcoholic beverages, dessert and tip) but the quality of the food and service makes it all worth while. Enjoy!

This was today’s lunch:

Medertariain Food!

We have had a hankering for some Mediterranean food for the past week or so. I talked to a co-worker of mine, Laufnick and he recommended a place in Boulder called, The Med.

Since our nephew, Travis just signed up for a four year stint in the Air Force, we decided this would be a good way to celebrate.

Okay, a little more about the Air Force….Travis has been interested in enlisting for quite some time but he had to do some prep work before he could be considered an applicant. Travis had to drop about 30 pounds before he could enlist. When Travis made his goal weight, he contacted a recruiter (which was a nightmare by the way) and started the enlistment process.

This past Tuesday, Travis took his entrance exam (and scored a whopping 92%) and took a physical. After successfully passing his physical and spilling his urine on his roommate (another story to share at a later time) he officially became enlisted.

I looked up The Med on the internet and from what I saw, the place looks interesting.

The restaurant is a happening place and reservations are highly recommended. Needless to say, I made reservations for this evening at 4pm (the only available time).

So, in a little under three hours, we will be enjoying an evening out at the Med! Pictures to follow…stay tuned!
